Dark Sector adalah sebuah game yang menceritakan perasaan dilema Heyden . Sejak lahir ia telah mengidap kelainan Congenital Analgia yaitu tidak dapat merasakan rasa sakit hal inilah yang dimanfaatkan oleh CIA untuk membuat mesin pembunuh . Dia harus mematuhi dan menjalankan misi pembunuhan yang bertentangan dengan hati nuraninya . Ketika menjalankan misi tanpa sengaja Heyden terinfeksi senyawa biologi yang membuatnya menjadi mutan, mengubah tangan kanannya dan memberinya kekuatan untuk melempar senjata seperti cakram yang bernama glaive.
Glaive adalah salah satu senjata terhebat dari sekian banyak senjata yang bisa digunakan oleh pemain . ketika dilempar ke api , listrik maupun es glaive akan menghisap material - material itu sebagai bagian dari senjata . Fungsi lain dari glaive adalah sebagaipembuka kunci pada chapter - chaptr tertentu dan memecahkan berbagai teka - teki .
Contohnya ketika pemain terjebak dan jalan satu - satunya terhalang oleh aliran sungai , gunakan glaive untuk merubah air menjadi es sehingga pemain dapat menyebrang di atasnya .
